Check a nature project before changing a place

A video of a productive pond does not establish that a pond will work on another site. FAO's aquaculture guidance treats site selection and suitable water as essential design questions. Use this preparation exercise before digging, stocking animals or altering water flow.

Try it

1. Describe the proposed project and the land, water, energy and care it would require.
2. List local permissions, effects on neighbours and wildlife, and questions for a qualified local specialist.
3. Choose a reversible research step; keep construction and animal introduction outside this plan until assessed.

What to notice

Record which assumptions are supported and which remain unknown. A decision to avoid the project can protect both people and living systems.
